THE FLOOD PARAGRAPH 120 words

                     THE FLOOD

In the rainy season, sometimes canals and rivers overflow their banks. As a result, waters rush into towns and villages on both sides. Very soon fields, roads and small houses go under water. This great rise of water is known as a flood . The flood may occur in different ways. Continuous heavy rain for days together often results in a flood. It is also caused by the breaking of the banks of a river or by release of excessive water from a barrage. Floods cause a great deal of damage to people and property. Standing paddy crops in the field are greatly affected as they go under water. Thatched and mud houses are completely destroyed. Sometimes cattle are washed off and lose their lives. Many people are swept away by the strong current of the flood water and many die when houses collapse on them. As a result, drinking water gets polluted and enteric disease like cholera, diarrhoea and dysentery break out in the flood hit areas. Relief and rescue operations start immediately. The Government and different social welfare organizations provide food and clothes to the flood affected people. The flood is a great evil. But it has its uses. It washes away all impurities and makes the land fertile.

Conservation of wild life paragraph

                 CONSERVATION OF WILDLIFE
The importance of conservation of wildlife can hardly be denied these days when hundreds of animals and birds are on the verge of extinction. There is inseparable relation between man, trees, birds and animals. One cannot live without the other. Man gets oxygen, fuel, medicines, honey and other important things from forests which are the natural habitat of birds and animals like tigers, lions, bears, deer and hosts of beasts. These animals which are mostly fierce and ferocious by nature keeping the illegal wood chopper away from the forest. Man, trees, birds and beasts maintain the all important ecological balance in nature. In absence of wildlife, this balance will be seriously distributed and humanity will be at stake. The number of wild animals and birds is getting fast reduced day by day. Poachers encroach on the forest and go on killing animals for their hide, flesh, teeth and bones. And this has already results in the extinction of almost 135 rare species of birds and beasts over the last 500 years. The India Govt. has however, taken a number of measures to protect wildlife. Stringent laws prohibiting illegals poaching have been inacted and are being enforced. As many as 53 National Parks and 248 Reserve Forests have been set up throughout the country for rehabilitation of wild animals and birds. In addition, wildlife institutions have been set up in kanha and Dehradoon. But all these measures for proper protection of wildlife is not enough. What is more urgent and imperative for the safety and security of wildlife is the awarness among people at large. They first need to know and understand the fact that their very existence on earth largely depends on the survival of birds and wild animals.
